Executive Chairperson, Phase 3 Productions
Dr. Marcia Forbes is co-founder, co-owner and Executive Chairperson of Phase Three Productions Limited, a 35-year-old company that stands as a leader in multi-media and television production for the English-speaking Caribbean. Phase Three has a history of ground-breaking achievements, such as being the first Jamaican company to broadcast live multi-camera coverage from overseas, with signal sent via satellite throughout the Eastern Caribbean, and to make the switch from analogue to digital technologies over a decade ago.  A Fulbright Scholar and author of two media-related books, Marcia Forbes, a former Vice President of Television for the Caribbean Broadcasting Union, is committed to giving back to Jamaica and the wider region. One way she does this is through internships provided by her company which, for over fifteen years, trains university students and others. She is also an active mentor. Among other community related activities, Dr. Forbes is Chairperson of the United Way of Jamaica, lectures master's students at the University of the West Indies, sits on the local Community Advisory Committee of the Inter-American Development bank (IDB) and represents the Women's Sector at the Partnership for Jamaica Council, chaired by the Prime Minister.  Dr. Marcia Forbes’ service to Jamaica was acknowledged when, in 2017, she received an Order of Distinction, Commander Class. In 2018 she was one of 77 women recognized across the three campuses of University of the West Indies (Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados) for outstanding achievements. In 2014 she was honoured by the Queen’s School for being an outstanding alumnus.  In 2011 The De Kalb County, Atlanta, USA awarded Dr. Forbes for her use of media to impact Jamaica and the World.
